About this tool
This transcribes an MP3 into plain text. It also takes M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC files, so voice memos, podcast episodes, interview recordings and dictation all work the same way: upload the file and download a .txt transcript you can search and edit.

- Speakers are not labelled, so an interview comes back as continuous text.
- Accuracy drops with background noise, music, crosstalk and poor microphones.
- Music-only files come back empty, because there is no speech to transcribe.

How do I convert MP3 to text?

Which audio formats work?
MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC. Video files work too — see Video to text.
How accurate is it?
Good on clear speech with a decent microphone, and worse with noise, crosstalk and strong accents. We do not publish an accuracy figure because we have not benchmarked it on a real test set.
How long can the recording be?
Up to 10 minutes and 100MB on the free tier. For a longer file, cut it into parts first with Trim audio.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no account, no watermark.
What happens to my file?
Your upload goes to private storage that is never public and never listed, and only the anonymous session that created the job can read it. The original file is deleted as soon as processing succeeds. The result stays available for about 90 minutes, and you can delete everything immediately with the Delete now button.
