About this tool
This takes the audio track out of a video and hands it back as an M4A file, leaving the picture behind. Use it when you want the sound in good quality for editing or archiving — if you specifically need MP3 for compatibility, use the MP3 tool instead.

Questions
What format is the extracted audio?
AAC audio in an M4A container, which is high quality and widely supported. For MP3 specifically, use the Convert to MP3 tool.
Does this reduce the audio quality?
The audio is re-encoded to AAC at a high bitrate. It is not bit-for-bit identical to the source, but the difference is not audible in normal listening.
Can I extract audio from any video?
From MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV files that actually contain an audio track. A silent video will fail with a clear message.
What happens to my file?
Your upload goes to private storage that is never public and never listed, and only the anonymous session that created the job can read it. The original file is deleted as soon as processing succeeds. The result stays available for about 90 minutes, and you can delete everything immediately with the Delete now button.
