About this tool
This converts a MOV file into an MP4. MOV is Apple's QuickTime format: iPhones, Macs and many cameras save video as .mov, often with HEVC (H.265) video that some Windows PCs, Android phones and upload forms cannot handle. The MP4 you get back uses H.264 video and AAC audio, which plays essentially everywhere.
How to convert MOV to MP4
- 1.Choose the MOV file.
- 2.Press Run and leave the tab open while it converts.
- 3.Download the MP4.
When people use it
iPhone video on a Windows PC
Windows often needs an extra codec, frequently a paid add-on, to play HEVC. An H.264 MP4 plays in the built-in apps.
Upload forms that want MP4
Many forms, course platforms and ad tools list MP4 only. Converting first avoids a rejected upload.
Sharing outside Apple devices
An MP4 plays reliably on Android phones, smart TVs and older computers.
What it will not do
Worth knowing before you upload, rather than after.
- The video is re-encoded to H.264, which takes a little time. The MP4 can be larger or smaller than the MOV, depending on the footage.
- HDR clips from recent iPhones can look flatter or less vivid, because the output is standard 8-bit video.
- Free files are limited to 100MB and 20 minutes — long 4K iPhone clips pass 100MB quickly.
Questions
How do I convert MOV to MP4?
Choose the MOV file above and press Run. When it finishes, download the MP4. There is no app to install and no account.
Why won't my iPhone video play on Windows?
iPhones record MOV files with HEVC (H.265) video by default. Windows needs an extra codec, often a paid add-on, to play HEVC. Converting to an H.264 MP4 removes the problem.
Is MOV to MP4 conversion lossless?
No. The video is re-encoded to H.264, which costs a little quality. At the settings used here the difference is hard to see in normal viewing.
Can I make my iPhone record something more compatible?
Yes. Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible records H.264 instead of HEVC. The file is still a .mov, but far more devices can play it.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no account, no watermark, for files up to 100MB and 20 minutes long.
What happens to my file?
Your upload goes to private storage that is never public and never listed, and only the anonymous session that created the job can read it. The original file is deleted as soon as processing succeeds. The result stays available for about 90 minutes, and you can delete everything immediately with the Delete now button.
